My Canon PowerShot SX240 HS Review
Look and Feel
You can’t recognize the Canon PowerShot SX240 HS from two cameras on the desk, The one is SX240 another is Canon PowerShot SX230 HS, As the upgrade of SX230, There is no big difference from the predecessor, But a little heavier than other cameras at this class.
The camera body is made by the plastic and mental That is substantial, The new grip on the front of this camera is new feature which can’t find in the SX230.
Though The 3.0 inch screen is bright with 460k dots resolution, But if you Canon can replace the 920k dot resolution display with it would make customers happy.
How about the Performance
The Canon PowerShot SX240 could deliver the great quality images with the 12.1 Megapixels CMOS Sensor and Digic 5 processor, From our test result, The image has no noise at ISO 400 and a few noise after ISO 800, And lot’s of color noise with the sensitivity comes to ISO 1600. It has the outstanding low light performance and low high light performance as other compact camera does.
The 1080P video is not a bad feature, But the video fps is about 30, And i think the 60 fps is better and hope the next generation can reach it.
The battery life of SX240 HS is just so so, I think 250 shot is the minimal i can accept and the Li-ion NB-6L Battery in this camera can only server 230 shots, This maybe sadly.
Verdict and Discount
“The Canon Powershot SX240 HS offers a lot of optical zoom in a compact camera body and has a number of features that the traveller will find appealing, although if you’re after GPS you’ll need to look at the Canon Powershot SX260 HS. Full HD video is available with stereo sound and optical zoom as well as high speed video modes and the camera’s movie digest mode is a good way to record both videos and photos. Image quality is good with pleasing colours and good levels of detail and the high speed shooting mode will also appeal, although it would be nice if it was available in all of the modes. The camera offers good value for money and its compact size and high zoom should make it high up on your shortlist if you’re looking for a compact travel zoom. ” – ephotozine
From all above, The Canon PowerShot SX240 is really a good travel zoom camera that has the solid strengths can be compared with the Panasonic Lumix ZS20.
Umm, you do realise that you have the wrong camera image above? That is the SX40, not the SX240.
