My Canon PowerShot SX500 IS Digital Camera Review
Feel and Handle
With the dimensions of 3.2 x 4.1 x 2.7 inches and weight of 12 ounces, The Canon PowerShot SX500 IS is really compact and small in the super-zoom camera of Canon, Maybe you can find other PowerShot cameras which has the lighter weight and smaller size like Canon SX240? But the zoom of SX240 is only 20x.
I find the 3.0 inch LCD screen which has the resolution of 461k dots, As we know that the 920k dots would be more sharp, But everything is ok on this screen, The only fault is it is hard to view under sunshine.
How about the Performance?
It is amazing to see the zoom of SX500 IS is 30x which works better than 20x in others, Although it looks a little bigger, But seem acceptable. I think you will like the 24mm Wide-Angle lens as well as the zoom, which comes with the great Optical Image Stabilizer, it is Intelligent and no need to manual control. The image quality can be impressive if you check the ISO to 80 or 100, But if you are a newbie, Just turn on the auto mode, nothing can be difficult.
I really don’t like the 720P video shooting mode in the camera, As most of super-zoom digital cameras has included the 1080P version, Even the 720P is enough for normal using, But it would be better if i can record the more sharp video.

Note as a CCD model, there can be vertical streaking on videos with saturated highlights, such as strongly backlit windows or sunny reflections on rippling water. In a word, If you are not a professional photographer who has no requirement on video shooting, I would recommend this Canon PowerShot SX500 IS which also has an affordable price.
