My Nikon AW100 Review
A new Nikon camera showed as the best deal on Amazon Best camera list, Here is my review.
How about the waterproof build
I think the main feature of Nikon COOLPIX AW100 is waterproof that you can take it to the deep water, and this is why more and more photography want to buy this camera.
After got AW100, I tested it with my own pool and i find the performance of against water penetration of this camera that is far beyond my imagination, the COOLPIX AW100 is doing better at the 10 foot deep water.
The button on the Nikon COOLPIX AW100 is a little small that will be hard to press if you have a big palm. But That’s understandable because it has the compact and small camera body.
Battery and GPS
As an outdoors camera, Maybe the battery life and GPS are main topics the photographers care most about. There is no doubt that GPS is outstanding it loads from googlemap, But the battery life is not remarkable? It is just ok.

“The Nikon AW100 offers a tough build that will keep shooting in all conditions. It will survive water down to a depth 10m, drops from 1.5m and temperatures down to -10 degrees celcius, meaning you’re well protected whether on the beach or from that pint glass of wine that always gets knocked over. ” – pocketlint
“Looking much like a regular digital camera, the new Nikon Coolpix AW100 can withstand almost everything that life can throw at it, underwater, in the cold, from a moderate height, although it’s not dust- or crush-proof like some rivals. The inclusion of a suite of sophisticated GPS features, which doesn’t affect battery-life too adversely, and the innovative Action Control feature makes the AW100 a great travel companion. Sure, just like a regular digital camera, it may not produce the best images and it does cost substantially more than most compacts, but the AW100 is still an assured first stab at an all-action model.” – photographyblog
“Overall, the AW100 is an excellent first attempt from Nikon at a rugged camera. The compact point-and-shoot feels polished and refined, and performs admirably on all fronts, delivering snappier performance and sharper images than our previous Editors’ Choice rugged compact, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3. That camera is a bit tougher, and is rated for use in cold temperatures where the AW100 is not, which still makes it a good choice for cold weather shooters. Like most rugged cameras, the AW100 is quite pricey. If you’re on a budget and don’t plan on taking your camera deeper than 10 feet underwater, you may want to consider the Olympus Tough TG-310, which is a full $180 less expensive than the AW100.” – pcmag
