Look and Design

The weight of Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 is 318g without lens, it is not heavy, But the metal and ergonomically body is substantial and easy to grab. And the dimensions are 5.7 x 7.5 x 3.9 inches, That means you can shoot images with single hand.

Here is the fixed 3.0 inch screen with the resolution of 4600,000 dots,It is bright and the build-in viewfinder is helpful for me. You maybe like the titling display than it, But i find it does not get out of the normal user’s road. The fault is the touch screen is not so responsive.

How about the Performance

There is no doubt that Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 can shoot great images, But it be restricted to low ISO setting. I sadly find the color noise could turn up at ISO 1600, and it would be much more at ISO 3200, Although the performance is better than some other compact cameras, but it is not satisfying.

The video mode is the most recommend feature in this camera, The quality of 1080P videos is outstanding and you can use microphone and auto focus while capturing video, The mini HDMI output is also useful for watching movies on HDTV.

The Li-ion rechargeable battery can support at least 310 shots, I think it’s not very impressive at this price, But it is enough, And you can carry spare batteries if needed.

Verdict and Discount

“For all its issues, we liked shooting with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1X. Sure it’s quirky, but like Sony’s NEX interface we’re sure it’ll become second nature over time. However, it’s too expensive to recommend unreservedly. Even with the quality lens and extensive photo-centric features, $849 is just too much compared to higher-end Olympus PENs and Sony NEX models. If you do find it at a competitive price, by all means, pick it up but at current levels, pass it by” – digitaltrends

In a word, For the advanced enthusiasts who want to get a compact and good performance camera, The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1 can be on your list.
