Look and Feel

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V is not a pocket-friendly camera with the 18.5 oz and Carl Zeiss 30x 4.8 mm – 144 mm Zoom Lens, Yet the black plastic cover and rubberized gave the comfortable felling when you put it in you in your hand. Don’t ignore the custom button on the camera that can improve the usability a lot.

The 3.0 inch display is sharp with the resolution 920k dot as we hope, Not only the definition, But also the titling feature, It is difficulty to find a camera that comes with sharp and titling screen at this price. and we also find the useful viewfinder which is helpful for entry level photography.

How about the Performance?

The continuous shooting speed of Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V can be about 10fps, I was astonished with the rate when i got and tested this camera, As you know most of sub-$300 digital camera only has the continuous shooting speed of 4fps or 6fps, I think Sony Cyber-Shot HX100V does a good job in this area.

This camera can be used for the wide angle shooting with the 30x zoom lens and the image quality is ok with the 16.2 megapixels Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor. I don’t want to criticize photo quality very much, But it is so soft with the Hish ISO setting, Although it works like a charm at Low ISO.

You will like the video shooting with the 1080P video recording mode that is also a not common feature. Thanks to the sony while a lot of manufacturers produced the 720P video mode cameras, Then you can enjoy the high definition video on HDTV with HDMI port too.

The battery life of Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V could take 400 shots per charge, It is better than 320 shots on the other camera and i think you will feel it is enough to use.

Verdict and Price

“Like Sony’s other 2011 HX-series cameras, the Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V can be a lot of fun thanks to an ample feature set. Its photo and video quality are excellent at small sizes, but less so for those expecting dSLR-quality at this price and size. Getting the most from it will require learning all that it can do and its limitations; probably more so in some cases than a lower-end megazoom. Still, if you’re looking for something to do double duty for movie clips and photos with a very long lens, it’s worth seeking out this camera. – cnet

In a summary, Though the performance of Sony Cyber-Shot HX100V is not as great as the DSLR, But it is worthy with the low price. And if you like the new generation of this camera, Please check the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V Review.
